Meredith is a native Virginian who first experienced the untamed beauty of Shenandoah National Park as a girl riding piggyback on her father’s shoulders. Since coming across the ruins of an old cabin, she has been taken with the mystery of the people who once lived there. Their story was the inspiration for her first novel, Go Down the Mountain.
Before becoming a mother, Battle worked as a journalist, then a political and public affairs consultant in Washington, D.C. She currently lives in a small, Virginia town with her husband and son, their Labrador Retriever and a handful of ducks.
